Guest Editor In Polymers: Special Issue “Lignin Based Materials: Structure, Properties And Applications”

Dr. René Herrera Díaz is a guest editor for the Polymers journal. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed, open access journal of polymer science. The special issue, “Special Issue “Lignin Based Materials: Structure, Properties and Applications, (2nd Edition)”. The issue is focused on novel aspects and strategies related to lignin valorization, current requirements linked to regulatory aspects in specific applications, future industrial use, research directions and prospects as well as developments in qualitative and quantitative fast analytical solutions for lignin processing and quality control.

MC member of the COST Action CA22155 – Network for forest by-products charcoal, resin, tar, potash (EU-PoTaRCh).

Dr. René Herrera Díaz is a MC member from Slovenia of the COST Action CA22155 – Network for forest by-products charcoal, resin, tar, potash (EU-PoTaRCh).  EU-PoTaRCh-establishes a network for the past, present and future of use of major non-timber forest raw materials and products in Europe. Whilst it will focus on forest by-products mainly Potash Tar Resin Charcoal (PoTaRCh)–as representatives of traditional forest exploitation heritage, it will touch upon other forest by-products (tannins, pitches).

4th Working Groups Workshop (Waste biorefinery technologies for accelerating sustainable energy processes)

Dr. René Herrera Díaz, attended the WIRE’s 4th Working Groups Workshop (Waste biorefinery technologies for accelerating sustainable energy processes), held 4-5 October 2023, at Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg, Germany.

He presented a poster in the framework of the Horizon Europe project Building a sustainable & circular economy through innovative, bio-based manufacturing lines (NewWave), within the manufacturing line of modified/engineering wood, showing some of the results of the formulations of the fast pyrolysis bio-oil used as a wood modification agent.
