Dr. René Herrera Díaz, attended the WIRE’s 4th Working Groups Workshop (Waste biorefinery technologies for accelerating sustainable energy processes), held 4-5 October 2023, at Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg, Germany. He presented a poster in the framework of the Horizon Europe project Building a sustainable & circular economy through innovative, bio-based manufacturing lines (NewWave), within the manufacturing line of modified/engineering wood, showing some of the results of the formulations of the fast pyrolysis bio-oil used as a wood modification agent.

Dr. René Herrera Díaz, attended the The 13th edition of the International Conference Wood science and engineering in the third millennium,in the Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania. He presented the results of the MSCA project, with the topic of Enhancing physical properties of wood through Lignin-Based Treatments.

11th European Conference on Wood Modification (ECWM 11), held 15-16 April 2024, in Florence, Italy.

This year the conference gathered 170 participants from 30 countries and provided a forum to learn about the latest developments in this rapidly evolving field, and to discuss with renowned experts and build networks.

dr. René Herrera Díaz spoke about preliminary evaluation of wood impregnated with oak bark-derived residuals.

The International Conference for Young Scientists on Biorefinery Technologies and Products – BtechPro2024, held 24-26 April 2024 in Riga, Latvia.

Dr. René Herrera Diaz was the session chair and one of the keynote speakers where he presented his research about sustainable wood treatment solutions and the role of bio-based products.

Dr. René Herrera Díaz presented “Exploring bio-based chemicals in the residual stream from the thermal wood modification process,” in the conference session dedicated to wood modification and chaired by him.

the III Ibero-Latin American Congress of Wood in Construction CI MAD 2024 MADRID, Spain.

Dr. René Herrera Díaz presented “Quality sorting of sawn wood products using NIR spectroscopy and chemometric models,” in the conference session dedicated to wood nondestructive techniques for quality control.
